The day has finally arrived! As I am typing this post, Sean is in his first ABA session and I am sitting in the waiting room. I am so excited and so hopeful.
I thought that today would be the perfect day to start consistently recording progress, set backs, frustrations and triumphs during this journey. I'm also going to flashback to the past to share not only how difficult this therapy was to obtain, but also to share stories of working hard to get the actual ASD diagnosis. It took me over 2.5 years of specialist visits, therapy sessions, school programs, etc. That in itself was difficult.
My purpose of this blog is to document Sean's progress as well as hopefully help even just one other family going through similar obstacles. Autism is tough.
Lastly, I may be an elementary teacher, but admittedly writing is not my strongest area. You will find truth and heart in this blog, but not prize winning writing. If you are reading this...thank you.
Good luck, hope all goes well!
